Maryanne - would you consider re-visiting statins sometime, in order to give us an idea on what has changed (or not changed) since you did the doco on statins? (You are the best thing on Substack!)

Expand full comment

Evidence still suggests that statins are not useful in primary prevention, and have some benefit for (high risk) secondary prevention. If you look through my posts, I have been writing about statins - the major study published last year was explained here https://maryannedemasi.substack.com/p/new-analysis-shows-statins-have-minimal-benefits

Read Malcolm Kendrick’s work - perhaps start with ‘The Clot Thickens’

I love Kendrick. Doctoring Data was an absolute gem. I hope he is ok - he has been quite since his cancer diagnosis.

He has a blog: drmalcolmkendrick.org and is currently writing a series of articles on the decline of the NHS. Well worth a read

Oh that is why I thought he had gone quiet. I signed up to his blog years ago, but the emails stopped coming, and I assumed he hadn't been writing. Thank you - I would never have realised that I must have fallen off his subscriber list if you hadn't posted!

You’re work is awesome. I’m currently involved with RFK Jr’s run for the presidency. Maybe you can comment on a few of his projects that you resonate with!

Expand full comment

Actually, I have been working on a couple of stories which involve some of the speeches he has made during his presidential run, but unfortunately, his media team said that he did not have time to comment.

I can give you Dennis Kucinich’s email address ( (he’s the campaign manager) but I don’t want to do it on a public post. Email me at drsteve@zimchiro.com

Have a great weekend!

Dear Maryanne, congratulations on this milestone. We have followed your work and referenced it over the past three years. We are independent researchers (self-funded, low-income), and our latest piece (which references some of your research), examines whether Covid itself and Covid mRNA vaccines are GMOs, who inside industry is saying they are, who isn't, and who is massaging the message.

We are not in a position to offer money, though we do live on the edge of the tourist town of Daylesford in Victoria, and we have a self-contained small cottage we could offer you and a friend/partner, if you ever wanted to holiday here. You can see the cottage and garden in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCRukvZE2Vk&t=2s

Not sure how much longer the Cochrane Collaboration is going to produce anything "counter" narrative.

Its co-founder was ousted in 2018. See here:

https://theconversation.com/cochrane-collaboration-expels-co-founder-splitting-board-and-prompting-walkout-103655

Here is an excerpt from the above article that gets to the point:

"Commenting on the BMJ website, Trisha Greenhalgh, while not privy to the full details of the case, implied that Gøtzsche could be seen by some as a technical purist whose rigidity could rile more pragmatic members."

Get it? Riling the "more pragmatic"?

I’ll refer you to the events that unfolded at the time… “The Cochrane Tapes” https://maryannedemasi.substack.com/p/the-cochrane-tapes

Like others here I value your independent voice and determined attitude. I think the "root" cause of many of the issues that you are concerned with is the unhealthy close relationship that some regulators, politicians and academics share with industry. Information about the employment of people who move to the from these organisations might help. Where do ministers who worked in the department of health over the past 20 years end up being employed for instance.

Here is a good example of this phenomena:

Agree, it’s the cosy club, the revolving door, regulatory capture 🤯

I am very struck by the exConservative MP Andrew Bridgen.

He played a significant role in exposing the Post Office Scandal (the biggest miscarriage of justice in British history) and has now turned his attention to matters COVID.

He deserves publicity and a fair report on his activities, their censoring and the personal abuse he has received.

Thank you for all the hard work you've done throughout this pandemic that saw a number of never before used interventions fly past the regulatory bodies and immediately labelled "safe and effective"... Your article in the BMJ "From FDA to MHRA: are drug regulators for hire?" is probably one of the most quoted works in the Covid 19 sphere showing just how captured these agencies appear to be. Such a brilliantly researched and critically timed article, that has helped expose those pulling the strings of regulators (and by default our government).

Your articles are very much appreciated and cover original angles of health, politics and covid, thanks for all the effort you've put in...

Many times I have tried to subscribe but clicking on manage subscriptions, it says I can’t do it there. Then there’s the gift subscription, is that what I click to pay for excellent work?

Hmm, perhaps try logging in and out to reset things, and if it doesn’t work, maybe gifting a subscription to your own email might do the trick? 🤷🏻‍♀️

G'day. Ceteris paribus, Is there a higher resistance to Covid/coronaviruses/viruses because of metabolic health esp with regard to whether a diet is primarily fat/protein or carbohydrate based.

Early in the pandemic, I wrote an editorial for the journal, BMJ-Evidence based medicine, titled "Covid-19 and metabolic syndrome - could diet be the key?"
