NIH staff have signed the Bethesda Declaration, accusing agency leadership of undermining science. But Bhattacharya and HHS say the claims are misguided—and that reform is essential to restore rigour.
NIH has been worse than useless in most regards over the past 40 or more years. Whether on cancer, autism, or heart disease, their work has seen the worst decline in American health in history -- hardly a vote of confidence in their work. Knowing the integrity of Battarchya, and how he is willing to risk everything to call out the grifters, I tend to think the Bethesda Declaration is probably a crock -- more grifters wanting to keep the grift flowing. I don't know the specifics, but I know Battacharya, so I am skeptical of this declaration, which I think was intended to be an act of mockery, in retribution for his Great Barrington Declaration. I vote to support Battacharya and fire all the signers. I think they've identified themselves as compromised by signing this declaration -- probably a big reason so many of them signed anonymously.
They said the Bethesda Declaration “was explicitly modeled after the Great Barrington Declaration,” and one of the signatories, Jenna Norton, even said the choice was intentional—so that Jay would “see himself in us.” Oh, please. 🤦🏻♀️
The signers of this declaration have made some serious allegations. Fine. Then let’s be scientific about this. Let’s see the evidence behind these allegations. If they can produce it then I’m sure that Bhattacharaya will be persuaded and correct his mistakes. The Great Barrington Declaration was based on solid science. I trust his integrity far more than that of his critics.
I don’t remember any dissenting declarations about Biden era policies. Could it be that anyone not protecting the institution’s leftist ideological bias was censored? Did any one of the Bethesda Declaration oppose Dr. Francis Collins who stated “you attach zero value to whether this [mitigation mandates] actually disrupts people’s lives [or] ruins the economy. This is the public health mindset”. They just did not care how many people were hurt, destroyed, or killed by their policies.
These are the same NIH employees who stood by in silence while their former director, Francis Collins, ordered a swift and devastating takedown of Bhattacharya—yet not one of them spoke out against the silencing of dissent. Just sayin 🤷🏻♀️
Fundamental changes in agency methods cannot be delayed or used to excuse past flaws. In an interconnected world where pandemics can escalate rapidly, research must be guided by the best scientific methods—free from the profit-driven motives and conflicts of interest associated with major pharmaceutical organisations.
We could not have chosen a better leader for NIH. Unfortunately, the staff who have been allowed to actually do nothing for years to improve our nation's health feel threatened by Dr. Bhattacharaya and the call to improve the Health of this country through quality research. We need his vision and his leadership.
I guess if the truth hurts and the grift is ending it is going to be painful. I guess these shills for big Pharma didnt think their sins would ever be made public.
As of February 22, 2025, the Great Barrington Declaration had amassed 941,261 signatures, including 16,176 medical and public health scientists, 47,839 medical practitioners, and 877,246 concerned citizens.
It advocated ending lockdowns and adopting ‘Focused Protection’—shielding the vulnerable while allowing low-risk individuals to resume normal life.
In parallel, the NIH’s acceptance of pharmaceutical-funded research raises serious concerns. Despite conflict-of-interest policies, industry-funded studies often favor sponsors. NIH scientists receiving royalties from drug companies further erodes independence. Critics argue this compromises public trust and call for transparency and reform to ensure research serves health, not PROFIT

NIH is benefiting from RFK Jnr and Bhattacharya
I think so, too. Reform was never going to be welcomed by all.

A declaration with 72% anonymous signatory support. Not worth the paper it's printed on !
cf Great Barrington Declaration with nearly a million signatories over 16000 Health or Public servants
AND
almost 50k medical practitioners
So size matters 😬

Bhattacharya must be doing something right.
The NIH is at the top of my list for causing the most caustic, irreparable and unconscionable erosion of public trust in the history of the USA.
It would be axiomatic for such claims to arise as they have so much to lose, and so, so much yet to be exposed.
