Gender dysphoria in many cases is not a primary condition, but rather a secondary or symptomatic manifestation of broader psychological or neurodevelopmental disturbances such as autism spectrum traits, interoceptive deficits, or identity instability. The vast majority of individuals with "gender dysphoria" ultimately desist, particularly during adolescence. What they need is support, not aggresive medicalization.

To aggressively medicalize these individuals without comprehensive assessment and truly informed consent constitutes a clinical and ethical aberration. There is a global push to obscure the true nature of this diagnosis and suppress the full picture to get a true informed consent. Many psychologists says they "affirm", but the role of a psychologist is not to affirm, but to exercise clinical discernment, exploring the full complexity of the individual’s presentation to guide clinical and ethically sound decisions. They only "affirm" what they wish, or are instructed, to see. A significant amount of people is aware about bias in medicine, but psychology… One day, we’ll have to talk about what’s really going on psychology faculties.

I've studied extensively about the dark side of medicine, but rarely have I encountered something as maliciously intended as this. To me, the real problem is that law no longer functions as a safeguard. It’s dead in essence, if not in form. Harmed individuals are no longer protected. Freedom of expression is no longer defended. Those who lie and cause harm thrive.

Thank you, Maryanne. I think Dr Jillian Spencer is a hero for speaking out.

I'm a clinical psychologist (not in general private practice anymore), who has long held concerns over how ideology infects health policies and guidelines. It seems to me that many professional bodies are not courageous and critical enough when it comes to separating ideology from evidence-based health care. That 'gender affirming care' infiltrated hospital and health care systems in Australia, with minors allegedly 'consenting' to irreversible medical interventions on the basis of gender dysphoria, remains deeply shocking to me. I don't believe these doctors are intending to cause harm, but it appears their rush to display good intentions / 'kindness' / 'equality' etc has overrun basic ethical decision-making. Medicine and psychology must not prioritise feelings over facts.

Yes, I’ve interviewed Jillian - she was very informative. On the whole, I think there are doctors in this space who believe they are helping - others who are swept up in the ideology. At the end of the day, children cannot possibly “fully consent” to these interventions that are often irreversible. I’ve had doctors argue that the “affirmation” model is not the case in ALL gender clinics in Australia… I’m still digging.

I can’t believe how completely and how quickly this happened. 15 years ago the women in my profession were on the ramparts decrying female circumcision as barbaric and misogynist, and now they are advocating for top & bottom surgery!! 🙄😭😱🤬😡🤮

I sure hope so. Many people have lost their livelihood on this altar. Children cannot make these terrible decisions and know the consequences. Chloe Cole tell us that as do many others. It is huge crime against children that will reap whirlwind. WPATH even recognised that children and young people do not know the consequences of these disastrous drugs and surgeries. Kiralle Smith's book documsnts some sad stories and Graeme Lenehan has a post where he shares the saddest stories of sons and daughters cutting off contact with their parents.

This puts Elon Musk concerns from a parental viewpoint when Aaron Greenspan outed the dysphoria issues of Xavier in the California court name change records

Elons response

2022

“She does not want to be a public figure. I think it is important to defend her right to privacy. Please don’t out someone against their will.”

To the more recent differences between Elon and his grown up child…

2024

“My son, Xavier, is dead – killed by the woke mind virus”

In this case the complexity of informed consent shows where the two parents may hear the issues selectively and the child is a minor on the puberty deadline / so complex when the results include infertility, bone density, regret, etc

All those whose families who are touched with the medication/surgical potential solutions which are broadcast in MSM and SM and by groups lobbying to be like us - know the dilemma of metamorphosis

At the one extreme there are those born with intersex issues at birth to those identifying as the opposite sex dysphoria.

I remember seeing Elon’s comments—it was heartbreaking. He said he was essentially coerced into agreeing to his child’s transition after doctors warned that refusal could lead to suicide. It’s sad for any parent to carry that kind of regret.

A few years ago Tony Briffa explained that EXTREME coercion when a small child - explained as normalising on their website but I can’t find it now - just the quote in Wikipedia.

I also had this experience at school which shows privacy important in these complex human metamorphosis

..Why Non-binary is important education and sport participation issue…

I remember as a 13 year old, after sports classes, the girls having to walk naked through a open line of showers. Our development stages ranged and the Sports Mistress kept a book with exemptions from showering if we were having a period. There must be at least 3 weeks in between shower exemptions.. maybe reasonable as it stopped avoidance of showers but I was changing next to a lovely tiny girl - she wispered to me "I'm not going to grow up like the other girls".

In 2022 we know we must not embarrass, hurt, discriminate - we need intelligent kind and legally strong laws to protect our most vulnerable"

Thank you Margaret I don't know

where you are now or what your subsequent life experiences were - your whisper 60 years ago taught me a lot.

Excellent article Maryanne, and it's only the tip of a pretty awful iceberg. In my home state of Victoria, parents who don't affirm their child's delusions, and try to counsel them towards accepting their biological reality, can be charged for 'conversion therapy'.
