We sit down for a frank conversation about the fights that cost me my job at the ABC, the TGA’s cosy ties to industry, and why independent voices are needed now more than ever.
Maryanne, have I told you lately how much I admire you? You’ve got ovaries girl. The sad aspect of all of this is the general public have no awareness of the regulatory capture and those who have an inkling shrug their shoulders. I was talking to my cousin out in Winnipeg yesterday. About 10 years ago he had triple by pass surgery and has been prescribed a plethora of drugs, 20 in all. Not only is he on metformin he’s also on ozempic. He told me in the last few years he’s become aggressive. Fights with people, no longer backs down. I suggested this new personality trait may be drug driven. He defends the drug regime because they keep him alive. When I talked to him about the mRNA shots, he has an awareness about side effects from the Global news exposure, but intends to get another shot. The only thing I can determine from people who defend drugs and shots is, since the government isn’t alarmed then they don’t need to be alarmed. Thank you so much Maryanne, you are a star.
Your anatomical identification of Maryanne's tenacity, was perfectly described Vivien. Not only in the reality of the person that is Maryanne, but also so pertinent, in this bizarre world in which we live in currently, where our sexual identity, is allegedly variable, purely on psychological and social demand. More power to your ovaries ladies!!
BTW In my view it is not really a "labour of love" it is a huge amount of hard work & a feeling of compulsion to try and make this world a better and more truthful place. DO SUPPORT INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM! ...As many as you can. It is a bargain to save you time to be better informed!
Maryanne a Logie for that interview - And the senator who showed non partisan interest in your story…
I’m new to this game but have gone along that route of TGA FOIs - so redacted, the set up of so many thousands of pages and the expense… how can the truth ever emerge. You described the FOI frustrations so clearly and so common. How much commercial in confidence should be allowed when taxpayers foot huge bills. Barely being able to trace the steps regulators MUST take to perform their duties as public servants without the joke of fear or favour. Then how difficult to explain to others bias and mis steps as you finally work out the chronology and influences.
So big pharma are a protected breed in their relationship with regulators but then the other comment you made that is so true - the engagement of paid trolls.
I took the liberty to transcribe this bit..
“They used to be just a direct lobbying to some executive at the ABC.
Then it was, oh, maybe we'll establish a sceptics organisation. We'll give you $5 if you just spend a bit of time trolling…”
The low life who become low paid trolls. They attack the journos, critics speaking out (those not controlled by BBC’s TNI that is). They engage in such market forums like Seeking Alpha and Hotcopper to counter truth - liking each other
Justifying?
“… We're trying to protect the public.
And COVID was the ultimate of that, I suppose….”
These are big markets like antiviral pills imports to Australia Pfizer Paxlovid and Merck Lagevrio $2.7billion cf 3x$800m for AUKUS in the same period to 2025
Market manipulation pays and big pharma is not about soft compassion and cure, really its profitability and rising share prices, market cap and exec pay and perks.
You are in good company Maryanne with Elon Musk - I watched the great Tesla Taunt 2016-2019 where TSLA neared bankrupcy and the trolling on Seeking Alpha and Twitter with Montana Skeptic and TSLAQ - relentless trolling - then Elon doxed the ringleader Montana skeptic a high paid lawyer in the oil industry leading the charge WITH BIG OIL money. So to think this does not go on is living in cloud cuckoo land
It’s exhausting fighting for truth but worth the inner satisfaction and improvements for our communities and families.
Maryanne’s motivation to keep going:
“…. I can't turn a blind eye to a story that's not the truth…”
Thank you Maryanne for all your hard work. I am depressed at the lack of care of the TGA.
It is quite evil the way they ignore the terrible damage that Statins are doing to older people and not so old. Sat next to a 52 year old last Wednesday at the Choir I belong to and she told me how disabled she was because of Osteo Arthritis, she went on to say how weak she felt. I told her all about Statins and how 25 years ago I became completely unable to walk and thought I was heading for the Nursing Home until my GP said he had been doing some research and it might be my Cholesterol lowering drug causing my weakness, he said it is very rare. Not rare 1 in 3 affected, Well I came off the drug and am a very fit old lady who walks at least 3 or 4 kms a day. Yes my cholesterol is around 7 but on my no sugar diet I stay very well.
So the young woman I met is going to throw her Statins away and she was furious that her GP had kept her on this Statin drug for 2 years. She went on to stay that before going on the drug she was a keen tennis player and now she can only walk in slow motion and remarked that I was much fitter than her, even though 30 years older.
Two weeks ago. a new resident came to live in this retirement village, crawls along with walking frame, been on Statins for years. Told she would have a heart attack if she came off it.
The TGA wrote and told me that all GPs know the danger of muscle weakness and it is up to them to warn their patients. So why does this not happen. They just get wrongly diagnosed.
Talking to a young Doctor friend and he told me that at Med School Statins are touted as the wonder drug of the century and they are never told of any side effects.
How wicked and evil these manufacturers are because thousands and thousands of people are being destroyed, lives ruined.
Spoke last night to a man I met 2 years ago who could hardly walk. He is so grateful to me as he has just returned from a European holiday, he looks 20 years younger than he did and enjoys life once again.
How can we stop the production of this evil drug. My letters just get ignored.
Ultimately, it’s all about informed consent. By raising awareness, we’re helping people access the information they need to make their own decisions. I appreciate you doing your part!
A politician with both smarts and integrity! Will wonders never cease! Wish we had a few more of those in Canada!
Maryanne, this was very informative and I must say that the more I learn about you and your journey the more I admire you. You are my hero! Live long and prosper!
Morning Maryanne, I have just had the pleasure of watching the video with Alex Antic, and even though, having followed your career in recent times, a number of the issues discussed were known to me, it was very illuminating to see the persona behind your investigative journalism.
You are clearly a hugely driven and dedicated woman, who is also very iconoclastic. These qualities, amongst many others, are the main reasons for your approach and your intent and your success.
However, what became so prominent from that interview, was the immense modesty with which you portray yourself and project your achievements. Yes, a number of people, like you, are now getting the recognition for their comments, that previously were cancelled and repudiated. But even so, your strength of character and the modesty with which you accept the importance of your work over the years, is a huge credit to you.
You are also inspirational to others who, one hopes will join you, and follow you in the future, to grow the numbers of quality, investigative journalists, with a similarly shared integrity, that will continue to hold these institutions, governments and massive corporations to account, in the future.
So thank you Maryanne, for being the beacon for future journalistic standards, that you clearly are. You are an immense credit to yourself, your family, your upbringing and also your profession.
Maryanne, you have realised, thanks to a number of the comments I have made on this site, that you have been kind enough to allow to be published, that I speak openly and forthrightly about the manner in which I see and understand matters.
Consequently, the comments above, that you have kindly accepted, in your very modest and understated manner, are very heart felt and most definitely deserved and I very much look forward to supporting you into the future.

Yeah, I have ovaries… I identify as a woman. Lol! Thanks Vivien 🙌
I think you’re right…. Drug cocktails have the potential to change personalities. For sure!
People usually say someone has balls when they’re daring or have nerve. I thought it was always weird to say that to a woman.

Two superstars, love them both. Cheers and thanks.
Thanks Billy 🙌
What a wonderful worthwhile watch as our warm and whizzy writer wages war against the whitewash of wicked world wide wastage of wisdom !
Why, what a wonderfully warm wrap up — wholly grateful 😬

Absolutely so worthwhile thanks.
Ha! Thanks C — the closest I ever got to a Logie was attending the event a couple of times…boring, and contrived. But the after-parties were fun. 😂
Terrific. My favourite pollie and my favourite Substacker both together. Thank you.
Aw...big hugs!

Anyone read this horrible recent article in The Atlantic? About RFK Jr?
Not too surprising, given The Atlantic’s history of vigorously defending mRNA tech.
